SBA RADIO PROMOTION CD - 20 Tracks
Scottish Charity No. SC034759
(For Radio promotion use only, not for sale or resale)
The goal of the Scottish Bluegrass Association is to popularise bluegrass music - this exciting genre of world music which is experiencing an upsurge of interest. The SBA promotes the development of bluegrass through a range of innovative promotions and projects.
The European World Of Bluegrass Association has greatly assisted us in this Radio Promotion compilation CD. They are acknowledged throughout Europe as the bona fide umbrella organisation covering twenty-two national bluegrass associations. EWOB is an open, democratic and subscription free, non-profit making fraternity. The EWOB Association (www.ewob.org) is a natural development of the early network of associations encouraged by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
What better way to pursue the goal of making bluegrass music more popular than to produce a compilation of our wonderful European bluegrass music featuring the amazing wealth of bluegrass talent now thriving on our European continent. This is music from the American post-war country music boom that was transported back to Europe and was in the early days made popular by radio play in both North America and subsequently in Europe. Here in Europe today it is being developed, played and recorded by European musicians for broadcast on radio.
This CD reflects a new and dedicated generation of highly talented European bluegrass musicians. Listen now to the stunning results. Enjoy! All of the bands have web addresses or e-mail contacts through which copies of their wonderful CD’s are available.

GUILDTOWN FESTIVAL CD – 26 Track
GUILDTOWN 2001 - FIFTEEN YEARS OF BLUEGRASS
KING ARTHUR's COMMENTS
Question: - What has 1 road, 1 pub, 1 garage/shop, and 1 village hall with the best weekend of Bluegrass that Scotland has to offer?
Answer:- Guildtown near Perth in scenic Perthshire.
The Runaway String Band first told me of this event during a picking session at the Old Edale event, so began my association with Gil’ton as the locals call it.
The early days began with only a single concert on the Saturday night, together with some Friday night picking for early comers. It soon grew to include a Friday evening concert in the pub. The old pub interior was a small, dark, crowded but intimate venue, but had the atmosphere of a community event. The recent refurbishment of the Anglers Inn has contributed immensely to the success of the Festival.
Scottish bands naturally dominated the line up in the early days with occasional guest appearances from artists attending the prestigious Edinburgh Festival. English bands began token, then regular appearances at subsequent festivals after hearing good reports about this friendly festival.
It is fitting that this compilation CD should be made by the Scottish Bluegrass Association to celebrate this superb event. A record of the contributions of bands attending from all over the world is a particularly special tribute.
The CD also pays tribute to our musician friends who have passed away, and contributed so much to the success of the Festival in years gone by. Many an Englishman's summer holiday begins or ends at the Guildtown Festival, being a great staging post for visits to Scotland
This CD has something for everyone and represents old and new and bands over a fifteen year period.
